Lockout — Terms of Use

Last updated: 6 August 2026

Lockout blocks apps you choose, for a period you commit to, and deliberately gives you no way to unlock early. That is the product. Please read the two sections below before you use it, because they describe consequences you cannot undo once a lockout starts.

What you are agreeing to

By using Lockout you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, delete the app. Lockout is provided by AutomateEdge for personal use by adults managing their own device.

The lockout is intentionally irreversible

When you log a lapse, start a focus session, or trigger an automatic ban, the apps you selected are blocked until the period you chose has elapsed. There is no unlock button, no PIN, no override, and no customer-support escape. This is the entire purpose of the app, not a defect.

The only ways a lockout ends early are the ones built into it: reaching your step goal, or claiming a break with a qualifying workout.

Choose your blocked apps and lockout length carefully. Do not block anything you may urgently need. In particular, consider that you may need access during an emergency, at work, or while travelling. Lockout does not block the Phone app, Messages, or Emergency SOS, but you are responsible for what you choose to block.

Not medical, clinical, or professional advice

Lockout is a self-management tool. It is not a medical device, a treatment, a therapy, or a substitute for professional care, and nothing in it is a diagnosis or a clinical recommendation.

Where the app shows figures from Apple Health — resting heart rate, heart rate variability, sleep, active energy, VO₂ max — it reports the numbers your devices recorded and how they changed. It does not interpret them and draws no conclusions about your health. Do not use them to make medical decisions.

If you are struggling with an addiction, a compulsion, or your mental health, please speak to a qualified professional. An app that hides your apps is not treatment. If you are in crisis, contact your local emergency services.

Your data is yours

Lockout stores its data on your device. The developer operates no server and receives nothing about you. The optional sync setting sends data only to a server address you enter and control. Full detail is in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.

Deleting the app deletes its data. There is no account to close and no copy for us to hand back or erase.

Acceptable use

No warranty, and the limits of our liability

Lockout is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that a lockout will always apply or always lift exactly on time — it depends on iOS features (Screen Time, Family Controls, Apple Health) whose behaviour is Apple's, not ours.

To the maximum extent the law allows, AutomateEdge is not liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of Lockout, including anything you miss, lose, or fail to do while apps you chose were blocked. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you. You may also have statutory consumer rights that these terms do not affect.

The App Store

Lockout is distributed through Apple's App Store. Apple is not a party to these terms and has no obligation to provide support for the app. Apple's own Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies to your use of the app, and where it conflicts with these terms on a point it covers, Apple's terms govern.

Changes

These terms may change as the app does. Material changes are published at this address with an updated date. Continuing to use Lockout after a change means you accept it.
